The Motorcycle Life book by Eric Hendrikx is a hardcover from Artisan Books that does what very few motorcycle titles manage — it positions riding not as a hobby or a subculture but as a framework for understanding identity, resilience, mental health, and connection in an era that badly needs all four. Bringing together more than 100 riders from across the globe, the Motorcycle Life book features a foreword by Norman Reedus, an introduction by Mike Wolfe of American Pickers, and interviews with Keanu Reeves, Jason Momoa, Tommy Flanagan, Carey Hart, Steve Caballero, Leticia Cline, Billy Morrison, and dozens of builders, racers, designers, musicians, and everyday riders.
The Riders Speaking Inside the Motorcycle Life Book
What gives the Motorcycle Life book its texture is the range. Jason Momoa describes the alignment of mind, body, and soul on a bike. Keanu Reeves frames riding as a conscious choice to pursue the benefit despite the cost — and to do it with awareness. Norman Reedus talks about the road as the place where expectations fall away and you move forward by letting go.
Carey Hart speaks to pain as a challenge rather than an ending. Leticia Cline — direct as ever — says she has ridden through hell and come out stronger, and that riding taught her to drop what she cannot carry. Jess Stone offers the counterweight: sometimes the quickest way through fear is not to power past it but to ground yourself first. The Motorcycle Life book treats every contributor — celebrity or civilian — with the same editorial weight, and the result reads less like a coffee-table showcase and more like a shared confession.
The Personal Connection to the Motorcycle Life Book
I am proud to have been interviewed for the Motorcycle Life book and am featured in the finished volume. Shortly after the interview, Hendrikx and I connected at the Harley-Davidson Homecoming event in Milwaukee — exactly the kind of cross-community moment the book captures on every page. Hendrikx, who has written for Men’s Journal, Rolling Stone, Robb Report, and Revolver, approached the project with an anthropologist’s background (San Diego State) and a rider’s instinct, and the combination produces something that transcends the typical motorcycle book.
