The Casio J Balvin Ring Watch Returns in Gold

The Casio J Balvin ring watch lands as the limited-edition CRW001JB-9: gold ion-plated stainless steel, rhinestone accents, and a brick-pattern face. Pre-orders open today at $200 ahead of the June 4 release.

Casio’s ring watch was the brand’s breakout novelty of 2024 — a fully functioning digital timepiece engineered into a finger ring, impossible to ignore and genuinely difficult to buy. For the second collaboration in the CRW-001 line, Casio handed that canvas to J Balvin, and the result is the CRW001JB-9: a Casio J Balvin ring watch that moves firmly into jewelry territory.

Pre-orders open today, May 28, at $200, with the full release set for June 4. This is the Colombian artist’s second collaboration with Casio — the follow-up to the 2025 Ma G-SHOCK — and it takes his design instincts in a noticeably different direction.

The Casio J Balvin Ring Watch Goes Full Gold

Where the Ma G-SHOCK leaned into streetwear energy — interchangeable bezels, lightning bolt motifs, handwritten Spanish text on the dial — this Casio J Balvin ring watch moves in a different direction entirely. The CRW001JB-9 arrives in gold ion-plated stainless steel, with a brick pattern running across both the face and the bezel. Eight rhinestone accents line the upper and lower edges of the case, introducing a shimmer that reads closer to a jewelry piece than a traditional timepiece.

The caseback carries J Balvin’s flower-and-lightning motif as an engraved signature, a detail that’s easy to miss but earns its place on a collector piece. Custom packaging mirrors the gold brick aesthetic of the case face. Nothing about this design is restrained, which appears to be entirely the point.

Inside the Casio J Balvin Ring Watch

At 19.5 mm wide and 16 grams, the CRW001JB-9 is a fully functioning digital watch in miniature. Casio has stripped some standard dial labeling — “MODE,” “ADJUST,” and “LIGHT” — to clean up the face and let the gold detailing lead. What remains: dual time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, auto-calendar, LED backlight, 12/24-hour format, and the time flash pulse that fires at a daily preset and on the hour.

The ring ships at US size 10.5, with two spacers in the box to accommodate approximately sizes 8 and 9. An SR621SW battery is rated for roughly two years. Basic splash resistance is built in; it is not rated for swimming.

Worth stating plainly: the CRW001JB-9 is not a G-SHOCK. It shares the familiar square silhouette but carries none of the shock protection or 200-meter water resistance that designation requires.

The CRW-001 Line Behind the Casio J Balvin Ring Watch

The CRW001JB-9 is the third model in Casio’s CRW-001 line, following the original silver CRW-001-1 and a standard gold variant. The line launched for Casio’s 50th watchmaking anniversary in 2024, built using metal injection molding to produce a module roughly one-tenth the size of a conventional watch movement. The silhouette — the square case with side guard details — is a deliberate nod to the G-SHOCK DW-5000/5600 family.

The deeper design reference goes back further. The CRW-001 is a tribute to the 1946 yubiwa finger ring pipe — the first product sold by Kashio Seisakujo, the predecessor company to Casio. That ring was a commercial success, and the profits it generated funded the development of Casio’s first calculator. The entire brand, in a sense, runs a line through a finger ring.

From Ma G to the Casio J Balvin Ring Watch

J Balvin’s relationship with Casio predates both collaborations. He performed at G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary in New York City in 2023, establishing a cultural alignment between the brand and the Colombian artist that had been building for years.

The first collaboration — the Ma G-SHOCK, released globally in January 2025 — was the first G-SHOCK to carry Spanish text on the dial, incorporating mode descriptions in Balvin’s own handwriting and his phrase “Ma G,” his term for those closest to him.

This Casio J Balvin ring watch extends the partnership into a different product category and a different aesthetic register. The gold tone, brick texture, and rhinestone detail reflect the visual universe Balvin is building alongside fellow Colombian artist Ryan Castro — centered on luxury, loyalty, and a Medellín-rooted identity that this piece wears openly.

Where to Get the Casio J Balvin Ring Watch

The CRW001JB-9 is available for pre-order starting today at $200 at casio.com/us, as well as through J Balvin’s shop, with the official release date set for June 4. Availability extends online, to the G-SHOCK SoHo store in New York City, and select retailers. The launch is US-first, with an international rollout expected to follow.

The original CRW-001 silver sold out fast — lottery-based in Japan, first-come in the US — context worth keeping in mind before June 4 arrives.
