As Porsche enters its sixth Formula E season, its duty to electrification, sustainability, and technological leadership is very apparent. The Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo configuration marks a significant advancement in Formula E, embodying a blend of high-performance technology and sustainable racing values.

The introduction of the Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo celebrates several vital technical innovations pivotal to its enhanced performance on the racetrack. One standout feature is engaging the front-wheel drive during crucial moments such as qualifying, race starts, and utilizing Attack Mode. This innovation allows the car to momentarily achieve all-wheel drive, significantly boosting acceleration up to 62 mph in approximately two seconds. The challenge lies in optimizing this front-wheel engagement, as the lessons learned will undoubtedly translate to Porsche’s production road models.

The Porsche 99X Electric has also received Hankook iON Race tires, designed for dry and wet conditions, with two sets per race weekend (three for doubleheaders). These next-gen tires are engineered to provide outstanding grip for increased speed.

The Porsche 99X Electric stands out with its striking modified front wing, which offers enhanced stability and resilience against track contact. The latest color options, Purple Sky Metallic and Shade Green Metallic, create a fresh look for the car and symbolize Porsche’s dedication to merging motorsport achievements with road car innovations. These colors replace the traditional white, black, and red, representing a significant shift in Porsche’s branding and technological transfer from racing to everyday production vehicles.

The Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo packs 402 horses in standard operation and 469 in Attack Mode. During standard operation, the power transmission is rear-wheel drive, switching to all-wheel drive for Attack Mode, qualifying, and race starts. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 2.0 seconds. Energy recovery capabilities allow up to 600 kW of recuperation power through regenerative braking, with about 50 percent of drive energy per race derived from this recovery.

Its braking system includes up to 250 kW of electric braking power at the front axle and up to 350 kW at the rear axle, along with a “Brake by Wire” system for additional deceleration via friction brakes at the front axle, where the diameter of the front brake disc is 258 mm. Rear axle friction brakes are only employed in emergencies, should the recuperation fail.

The lithium-ion battery, a standard component, has a usable capacity of 38.5 kWh and a weight of 285 kg. The Combined Charging System (CCS) allows high-speed charging of up to 600 kW.

In terms of weight and dimensions, the vehicle weighs 862 kg including the driver, and measures 5016 mm in length, 1700 mm in width, and 1023 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2970 mm, ground clearance of up to 65 mm, a front track of 1440 mm, and a rear track of 1380 mm.

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and its partner, Andretti Formula E, are staged for the official pre-season testing in Valencia from November 4 to 7. New talent Gabriela Jílková and Marta García will join experienced pilots Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa.
