The Porsche 911 Cup car is back — faster, sharper, and more sustainable than ever. As it prepares for a full competition debut in the 2026 season, Porsche’s latest one-make cup car is the culmination of over three decades of racing evolution. Based on the updated 992.2 generation of the 911, the new Porsche 911 Cup was engineered from the ground up by Porsche Motorsport in Weissach to elevate the driving experience while staying true to its series-production DNA.

Since its inception in 1990, the Porsche 911 has served as the backbone for the Carrera Cup and Supercup series, both of which have become global benchmarks for spec racing. With over 5,381 Cup cars produced to date, and more than 1,130 units of the previous 992.1 GT3 Cup version alone, the 911-based platform remains one of the most prolific race cars in the world. That legacy continues now with a new chapter — one that blends the precision of motorsport with Porsche’s signature design ethos.

Porsche 911 Cup Car Features Purpose-Driven Refinements

Under the hood, the Porsche 911 Cup is a refined six-cylinder boxer engine, updated vehicle handling, and a major overhaul of the electronics, brakes, and gearbox. The development process wasn’t rushed — it began in early 2024 and was honed over extensive testing sessions on three iconic circuits: Monza, Lausitzring, and the Porsche development track at Weissach.

The focus was clear: make a car that delivers improved drivability while preserving the visceral feel that racers demand. Among the most significant upgrades is the revised front-end aerodynamics, which not only delivers enhanced grip but also greater predictability in high-speed corners. The brake feel and gearshift calibration have also been refined to reduce fatigue and increase precision over the course of a race.

The Porsche 911 Cup will also be more sustainable than ever. The test program exclusively used a new eFuel blend that’s already set for competition in the 2025 Porsche Supercup. This FIA-compliant fuel mix features 79.7% renewable content by volume and delivers a CO2-equivalent reduction of 66% compared to traditional race fuel. High-performance synthetic components like methanol-to-gasoline (MtG) and waste-based ethanol provide a 100.5 RON rating without compromising power output — an achievement that supports Porsche’s broader environmental commitments.

Porsche 911 Cup: Track-Bred DNA Meets Global Excellence

The Porsche 911 Cup is a global performer. When it enters the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and various Carrera Cup series in 2026, including the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, it will compete across over a dozen countries. From Japan and the Middle East to Europe and the Americas, this car is built to excel on every surface, climate, and competition level.

Behind the wheel of the latest prototype were top-tier drivers including Bastian Buus (2023 Supercup champion), Klaus Bachler (2024 LMGT3 FIA Endurance Trophy winner), Laurin Heinrich (2024 IMSA GTD Pro champion), and veteran Marco Seefried. Their combined feedback shaped a race car that’s not only incredibly fast but thoughtfully engineered for racers at all levels of the sport.

With a tunneled underbody, lightweight carbon tub, active aero components, and massive 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels, the Porsche 911 Cup delivers the kind of presence and performance that’s unmistakably Porsche. It remains one of the only race cars in its class produced directly on the same line as road-going 911s at Porsche’s main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
