BMW M’s latest special edition coupe is no half-measure. The BMW M2 CS makes its global debut with more power, less weight, and sharper dynamics—all in a compact form factor that evokes the spirit of the legendary 2002 Turbo and the coveted 1M Coupe. Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, this track-bred, street-legal machine is a celebration of what driving should feel like when passion meets precision.

Under the hood, the BMW M2 CS packs a reworked 3.0-liter S58 inline 6-cylinder engine pushing 523 horsepower—up 50 hp from the standard M2—and 479 lb-ft of torque. This high-revving masterpiece redlines at 7,200 rpm and launches the M2 CS from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. Backed by BMW’s race-proven M TwinPower Turbo technology, the engine features two mono-scroll turbochargers, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing, and a robust closed-deck crankcase. Its impressive throttle response is accentuated by CS-specific engine mapping and an M-specific exhaust system that roars through matte black quad pipes.
All this power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Drivers can dial in performance via three-shift programs or take full control using paddle shifters. Top speed? 188 mph when equipped with the M Driver’s Package. The M2 CS is surgically accurate, agile, and intoxicatingly loud.

But performance doesn’t just come from under the hood. BMW’s engineers reduced the weight by nearly 100 pounds using carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components and exclusive forged M alloy wheels. The CS-specific chassis tuning, lowered suspension, and recalibrated steering, brakes, and differential give the BMW M2 CS laser-guided precision whether on the road or the racetrack.
Design and Technology That Fuel the BMW M2 CS Experience
Every inch of the BMW M2 CS exterior was engineered with purpose. Carbon fiber elements like the M Carbon roof, mirror caps, front splitter, and ducktail rear spoiler aren’t just for show—they shave weight and add downforce. The exclusive matte black kidney grille and CS-branded trunk badge are more than just aesthetic; they’re declarations of performance intent. It rolls on striking 19-inch front and 20-inch rear Style 827M forged wheels, finished in Gold Bronze and wrapped in aggressive 275/35 and 285/30 performance tires, respectively.

Inside, it’s all business. The BMW M2 CS cockpit is draped in Black Merino leather and Alcantara, featuring heated M Carbon bucket seats with removable head restraints for helmet clearance and multi-point harness compatibility. The red-stitched “CS” logos and carbon fiber trim details speak to the motorsport DNA coursing through the car’s veins. A flat-bottom Alcantara steering wheel, red center marker, and M buttons reinforce the car’s aggressive posture while giving drivers fingertip access to full vehicle personalization.
Tech-wise, the M2 CS doesn’t fall short. BMW’s Operating System 8.5 powers a 12.3-inch digital cluster and 14.9-inch control display, loaded with BMW Live Cockpit Professional and augmented reality navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with semi-automated driving aids like Lane Keeping Assistant, Forward Collision Mitigation, and Active Cruise Control. The M Drift Analyzer and M Laptimer are perfect companions for honing your skills at the track, while customizable setup menus let you fine-tune everything from traction control to braking behavior.

The BMW M2 CS starts at $98,600 plus $1,175 destination and handling, with production beginning in August 2025 at BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. Limited numbers will ensure this CS model follows in the footsteps of its sought-after predecessors—and if performance, exclusivity, and heritage mean anything to you, this car should be on your radar.
