The first release, “Pretty Penny,” takes its color scheme directly from Booker’s 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible — the car he’s credited with starting his classic car habit in the first place. The remaining three designs in the Nike Book 2 collection correspond to Impalas from 1958, 1962, and 1963, each labeled with its source car’s model year and finished to match that specific vehicle’s paint rather than a generic retro palette.

Booker described the project as a natural extension of where he’s from and what he collects: “I’ve been a lifelong Chevy fan and I truly love adding classic cars to my garage, The Library. Bringing together my Michigan roots and my passion for Chevy makes this project really special.”

The collection also includes a “Heartbeat of America” T-shirt, referencing Chevrolet’s own late-’80s and ’90s ad anthem, and a custom shoebox styled after the brand’s mid-century Accessories packaging — kraft-paper construction, teal-and-orange graphics, oversized lettering.

The Nike Book 2 Release Timeline and Detroit Debut

“Pretty Penny” gets an early release in Detroit on Saturday, August 15, timed to the Woodward Dream Cruise — a one-day gathering that draws roughly 40,000 vintage cars along a 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue, with Booker’s own Impala expected to be among them.

Fans in Detroit can enter through SNRKS Pass on August 14 for a chance to pick up the shoe at Burn Rubber in Royal Oak the following day, ahead of a global release on August 26.

The remaining three sneakers in the Nike Book 2 collection follow in December 2026, spacing the release out across the rest of the year rather than dropping all four at once.

The Nike Book 2 Continues Chevrolet’s Collaboration Efforts

This is the second year running Chevrolet has built a sneaker collection around Booker’s own car collection rather than a licensed logo tie-in — last year’s Book 1 pulled its concept from his vintage Chevy Blazers.

Scott Bell, Chevrolet’s vice president of Global Chevrolet, framed the partnership as more than a marketing exercise: “When an All-Star like Devin draws genuine inspiration from one of our classic Chevys, it speaks volumes. Millions of people connect with that passion for an iconic car.”

That framing is worth taking seriously. A car brand leaning on an athlete’s actual, verifiable garage — down to matching real paint codes rather than inventing a colorway — is a different kind of authenticity claim than a standard endorsement deal.

It’s also one that gets harder to repeat the second and third time around. Whether Chevrolet can keep finding car-specific details worth building a shoe around may determine whether this becomes an annual tradition or a two-year experiment.
