At this year’s Quail Motorsports Gathering, Chevrolet unveiled a new direction for America’s most iconic performance car with the debut of the Corvette CX and its track-bred sibling, the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. More than just eye candy for enthusiasts, these concept vehicles serve as a design manifesto—an audacious declaration of what the Corvette lineage can and should become in a fully electrified, high-tech future.

Corvette CX Concept: A 2,000HP Electric Supercar
Born from a global GM design initiative and built at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Michigan, the Corvette CX represents a no-compromise electric supercar that is both unmistakably Corvette and wholly futuristic. A long, low profile—just under 41 inches tall—is paired with signature dual-element taillights, a sharply sculpted nose, and a sleek canopy reminiscent of a fighter jet. But this isn’t just aesthetic aggression; every crease and channel on the CX has been wind-tested and race-refined in collaboration with the GM Motorsports Aero Group.
Underneath that sculptural exterior lies innovation that challenges the current boundaries of supercar performance. The Corvette CX features a fully electric AWD powertrain with four individual motors delivering a combined output of over 2,000 horsepower. That’s not a typo. Add to that torque vectoring, active aero components like a variable rear wing and front diffuser, and a cutting-edge Vacuum Fan System that controls downforce on demand, and you have a machine designed to outperform anything that’s ever worn the Corvette badge.

Inside the CX, the driver’s seat is the cockpit of the future. A fighter jet-style canopy lifts forward as you approach, revealing an interior awash in Inferno Red ballistic textile, forged carbon fiber, milled aluminum, and premium silicone leather. A fully digital windscreen display replaces traditional gauges, while all major controls are integrated into the steering wheel, delivering a deeply immersive and focused experience. The Corvette CX may not be street-legal—yet—but it signals a monumental shift in what performance, design, and driver connection mean in a Corvette.

Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo: A Track-Bred Electric Titan
Where the Corvette CX explores the potential of future street performance, the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo brings that vision full throttle to the racetrack. Designed exclusively for GT racing—and for your PlayStation—this concept is the ultimate hybridized evolution of Chevrolet’s performance DNA. Taking cues from Corvette Racing’s legendary yellow and black livery, the CX.R VGT embraces an aggressive stance with enhanced active aero, a dropped ride height, and reduced weight throughout.

Inside, every detail has been stripped down and refocused on function. Lightweight carbon fiber dominates the dashboard, while high-grip suede-lined performance seating provides the support needed to survive the incredible g-forces this car promises to deliver. It’s raw. It’s focused. It’s a motorsport purist’s playground.
But the real engineering story lives in its hybrid powertrain. The Corvette CX.R is powered by a 900-horsepower 2.0-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of screaming to 15,000 rpm, mid-mounted for perfect balance. But that’s just the beginning. This engine is paired with three electric motors—two at the front and one integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox—bringing the total system output to a jaw-dropping 2,000 horsepower. And yes, it runs on renewable e-fuel, blending sustainability with savagery.

Both the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo will be available for fans to experience virtually in the Gran Turismo 7 video game later this month, thanks to a partnership with Sony’s Polyphony Digital Inc.
The Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo are not for sale. But they’re not for show, either. They’re proof of concept, declarations of intent, and perhaps most importantly, invitations—for all of us—to imagine the Corvette not just surviving the electric future, but dominating it.
