ABERFELDY 49 Year Old: A Legacy of Patience, Honey, and Highland Craft
For nearly five decades, a single cask at ABERFELDY Distillery quietly evolved into what is now the oldest expression ever bottled by the Highland house. The ABERFELDY 49 Year Old, filled in 1975 and personally selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod, is a triumph of restraint, maturation, and unmistakable house character. It debuts this October as one of the crown jewels of the Distillers One of One charity auction—a biennial celebration of rare Scotch whiskies and fine philanthropy.
Macleod describes this milestone bottling with reverence: “Extraordinary layers of honeyed fruit, soft spice, and ABERFELDY’s unmistakable character.” And that it is. The ABERFELDY 49 Year Old pours with deep, golden richness, delivering lush notes of honeyed apples and ripe pears that unfold into delicate cinnamon and oak spice. The texture is mouth-coating, almost waxy, with every sip whispering its half-century journey in a carefully chosen single cask.

This precious spirit is presented in a bespoke decanter designed by La Cristallerie Royale de Saint-Louis—a visual and tactile ode to the rarity of what lies within. For collectors, connoisseurs, and admirers of highland elegance, the ABERFELDY 49 Year Old is a once-in-a-lifetime release that speaks to the soul of true whisky craft.
ROYAL BRACKLA 54 Year Old: An Opulent Symphony of Time and Smoke
Paired with the ABERFELDY expression in the Distillers One of One spotlight is the ROYAL BRACKLA 54 Year Old—a whisky of staggering age and remarkable sophistication. Filled into a refill hogshead in 1970, this regal Speyside single malt emerges after 54 years with rich complexity: waxy stone fruits, caramelized peaches, syrupy pineapple, and a long, spiced finish kissed with smoke. It’s a stunning statement of the distillery’s quiet brilliance and uncompromising tradition.

The ROYAL BRACKLA 54 Year Old is presented in an equally stunning handmade Saint-Louis crystal decanter, echoing the luxurious craft within. As the oldest release in Royal Brackla’s history, it stands not only as a technical achievement but also as a deeply expressive piece of Scotch whisky history.
Together, the ABERFELDY 49 Year Old and ROYAL BRACKLA 54 Year Old lead the charge at this year’s Distillers One of One Auction, taking place October 10, 2025, at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh. With only 39 lots from 35 distilleries, this invitation-only event continues to raise millions for The Distillers’ Charity, directly supporting disadvantaged youth across Scotland.
