Altadis unveils the Romeo y Julieta 1875 Run for the Roses cigar, commemorating the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. This limited edition cigar honors a partnership with Churchill Downs, blending the storied legacies of one of the world’s most famous horse races and a prestigious cigar brand established in the same year as the inaugural Derby in 1875.

Crafted in the Dominican Republic by Altadis U.S.A.’s esteemed Grupo de Maestros, the Run for the Roses cigars feature a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos encased in an extra-aged Java Shade Indonesian wrapper. This meticulous blend ensures a rich and complex flavor profile that mirrors the excitement and elegance of the Derby itself.

Romeo y Julieta 1875 has crafted two special formats for this limited edition: the Exhibicion No. 3 Toro and the Churchill, priced at $20 and $25, respectively. The Toro is available at Liquor Barn stores throughout Kentucky and their retail kiosks at Churchill Downs. The Churchill format, however, takes exclusivity up a notch, offered only at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Oaks and Derby days, with only 2,000 single cigar boxes produced.

In addition to the cigars, a custom Romeo y Julieta 1875 Run for the Roses torch lighter is also available. Altadis U.S.A. has also nodded at an upcoming project to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Romeo y Julieta brand itself, promising more luxurious releases soon.
